Punjab: CM Mann to handover appointment letters for 107 Group C and D posts

The recruitment process for 107 Group C and D posts in the Public Works Department (PWD) has been completed. The appointment letters to the candidates will be handed over by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO at an event in Municipal, Chandigarh.

The PWD minister said that the appointment letters will be handed over to candidates for 98 posts included (Group C), two junior draftsmen (Group C, on compassionate grounds), and seven miscellaneous (Group D, on compassionate basis) in the department.

Last year in October, the Punjab cabinet approved changing the rules to ensure that only applicants with “in-depth knowledge” of the Punjabi language can be hired in Group C and D positions in the state government.

“The cabinet gave nod for amending Rule 17 of Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of services) Rules, 1994 and Punjab State (Group D) Service Rules 1963 with an aim to ensure that only those candidates are appointed in the Punjab government who have in-depth knowledge of Punjabi language,” an official statement released by the state government said.
