Punjab News: Following its victory in the state's assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is getting ready to raise its flag in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. The party has announced Gurmeet Singh Khuddiyan, the Agriculture Minister for the Punjab Government, as its nominee for the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat.
Minister's Assertive Claim
In the midst of election preparations, Minister Gurmeet Singh made a significant claim to a group of media representatives about important matters like paying farmers and outlawing the smuggling of drugs into Punjab.
He clarified, saying, "Drugs worth Rs 700 crore have been seized for the first time in Punjab because the state government has given the police a free hand." In addition, he mentioned that whereas it used to take three years for farmers to receive compensation, it now happens right away.
Gurmeet Singh Khuddian's Election Disclosures
Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, the Aam Aadmi Party's nominee for the state's Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, is the Punjab government's minister of agriculture. In the midst of his election preparations, he told a media group that drugs valued at Rs 700 crore had been seized in Punjab for the first time because the police had been given too much latitude.
In addition, he described the efforts being made by the state government to promote sports among young people in the state. When it came to the payment farmers receive for their crops, Gurmeet Singh stated that in the past, it used to take three years. In contrast, the current administration is paying farmers immediately.
