As part of the statewide mission, Punjab Police has intensified raids, search operations, and awareness drives aimed at dismantling drug networks, strengthening prevention mechanisms, and motivating youth to adopt a drug-free lifestyle. The campaign reflects the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs and organized narcotics trade.
Bhagwant Mann Govt Tightens Noose on Drug Networks Across Punjab
According to official data released by Punjab Police, raids were conducted at 282 locations across the state, leading to the arrest of 61 drug smugglers in the latest phase of the operation. With this, the total number of drug traffickers arrested during the 293-day mission has reached 40,748, marking one of the most extensive anti-drug drives in Punjab’s history.
Senior police officials stated that the mission is not limited to enforcement alone but also focuses on rehabilitation and awareness. Alongside strict policing, continuous outreach programmes are being conducted to educate communities and encourage youth to stay away from substance abuse.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly asserted that drugs have destroyed generations in Punjab and that his government is determined to uproot the menace completely. The sustained momentum of Yudh Nashian Virudh highlights the administration’s commitment to restoring public safety and rebuilding trust in law enforcement.
