The Bhagwant Mann Government has announced the establishment of three new digital open universities as part of its education reform initiative aimed at expanding access to higher education and promoting digital learning across the state.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shared details of the upcoming institutions, stating that the projects are being launched following the policy introduced by the Bhagwant Mann-led government to strengthen the state’s higher education infrastructure.
Bhagwant Mann Government’s New Education Policy
According to the announcement, a Cloud University will be established in Bohan village of Hoshiarpur district, focusing on technology-driven education and digital learning. An M.S. Digital University will be set up in Fatehpur village of Patiala district, while a Physics Wallah University will be established in Nandpur Kesho village, also in Patiala district.
The government said these universities are expected to provide students with greater access to modern, technology-enabled education and help prepare them for careers in emerging industries. The initiative also aims to strengthen Punjab’s position as a hub for digital education and skill development.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the new institutions reflect the government’s commitment to improving educational opportunities, promoting innovation, and making quality higher education more accessible to students across Punjab.
The move is part of the Punjab Government’s broader strategy to modernize the education sector through digital infrastructure, industry-oriented courses, and increased investment in higher education, with the goal of equipping young people with the skills needed in a rapidly evolving global economy.
