The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has highlighted the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s approach towards tackling drug abuse, emphasising rehabilitation and care for people struggling with addiction rather than social discrimination against them.

In a social media post, AAP Punjab said people battling drug addiction need support and proper treatment instead of hatred. The party stated that the government’s de-addiction centres are working to provide care and assistance to individuals seeking to overcome substance dependence.

Focus on Treatment and Rehabilitation: Bhagwant Mann

The party stressed that people affected by drug addiction should be treated with compassion and given opportunities to recover and reintegrate into society. It presented the state’s de-addiction centres as an important part of the broader campaign against drug abuse, ‘Yudh Nashe Virudh’.

The message highlighted the importance of a rehabilitation-based approach, recognising addiction as an issue that requires medical care, counselling and sustained support. AAP said the government’s efforts are aimed at helping individuals move away from substance dependence and rebuild their lives.

Action Against Fake De-addiction Centres

Alongside rehabilitation efforts, AAP Punjab said authorities are identifying fake or unauthorised de-addiction centres and taking strict action against them. The party stated that action against such facilities is necessary to protect vulnerable people seeking treatment and ensure that they receive care through appropriate centres.

The crackdown on allegedly fake centres is being presented as a complementary part of the anti-drug campaign, alongside efforts to expand access to treatment and rehabilitation.
