Officials further stated that policy rationalisation and technology-driven monitoring systems have played a crucial role in curbing leakages and improving efficiency within the taxation framework. Enhanced e-governance measures, including online registrations and digital tracking of excise transactions, were cited as key contributors to the improved revenue performance.

The minister emphasised that strengthening the state’s financial position allows the government to invest more in public welfare programmes, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education. He added that sustained revenue growth is essential to maintaining fiscal stability without placing additional burdens on ordinary citizens.

According to department sources, enforcement drives against tax evasion and illegal trade have also been intensified. Regular inspections and data analytics are being used to detect irregularities and ensure compliance with state regulations.

Reiterating the government’s focus on transparency, Cheema said that accountability mechanisms have been strengthened to ensure that every rupee collected contributes effectively to Punjab’s development. He expressed confidence that continued reforms would help the state achieve even higher revenue targets in the coming financial years.
