Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly opposed the dissolution of the Panjab University Senate and Syndicate, calling the move unconstitutional and undemocratic. Taking to social media, he announced that the Punjab government will approach the High Court to challenge the notification that disbands these governing bodies of the prestigious university.

CM Mann stated that a panel of the country’s top and most specialized lawyers will be formed to fight this case, ensuring that Punjab’s interests and constitutional rights are safeguarded. He emphasized that the state government will stand firmly against any act of “धक्केशाही” (high-handedness) and will pursue every possible avenue to restore justice and protect the autonomy of Panjab University.

Highlighting the historical and emotional connection between Punjab and the university, Bhagwant Mann reminded that Panjab University has been an integral part of Punjab’s educational identity. He asserted that attempts to dilute Punjab’s role in the administration of the university will not be tolerated, as the institution has long been a symbol of academic excellence and Punjabi heritage.
The Chief Minister also announced that the issue will be raised in the upcoming session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, aiming to strengthen the state’s position legislatively as well. He said this fight is not just about administration but about protecting Punjab’s rights, culture, and voice in national institutions.
