Punjab Police has intensified its ongoing crackdown on drug networks as part of its 551-day #YudhNashianVirudh campaign, with 131 alleged drug smugglers arrested and a significant quantity of narcotics recovered.
According to the Punjab Police, the arrests were made during continued action against drug smuggling networks in the state. The operation was carried out with the involvement of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann: Heroin, Opium and Intoxicant Pills Recovered
During the crackdown, police recovered 2.7 kg of heroin, 470 grams of opium and 1,062 intoxicant pills from the possession of the arrested individuals.
The authorities also recovered ₹7,120 in suspected drug money, according to the Punjab Police update.
Focus on De-Addiction and Rehabilitation
Alongside enforcement action, Punjab Police said that 13 individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
The move highlights the campaign’s focus not only on tackling drug smuggling networks but also on encouraging people struggling with substance dependence to seek treatment and rehabilitation.

The latest arrests form part of the Punjab Police’s sustained campaign against the illegal drug trade. The department has continued to combine enforcement measures with efforts aimed at encouraging rehabilitation and de-addiction.
