Bhagwant Mann arrested 71 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 10.3 kg of heroin as part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking across the state, officials said.
The police action was carried out under the ongoing #YudhNashianVirudh campaign, which focuses on disrupting drug networks and taking action against those involved in the illegal trade.
Heroin, Intoxicant Pills Recovered
According to Punjab Police, the latest operations resulted in the seizure of 10.3 kg of heroin and 3,628 intoxicant pills from the arrested suspects.
Police also recovered ₹1,900 in suspected drug money during the operations.
The arrests and recoveries form part of the state’s continued efforts to target drug suppliers and dismantle networks involved in the distribution of narcotic substances.
11 People Counselled for De-Addiction
Alongside enforcement action, Punjab Police said that 11 individuals were counselled and encouraged to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
The initiative combines action against drug trafficking with efforts to connect people struggling with substance use to rehabilitation services.
