In a major breakthrough against organised crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs under the ongoing #GangsteranTeVaar campaign, has dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module. The operation led to the arrest of five accused persons and the recovery of a significant cache of illegal weapons, drugs, and cash.

During the intelligence-led operation, police teams seized six sophisticated pistols, 10 live cartridges, 115 grams of heroin, and ₹11.90 lakh in drug money. Officials said the recovered arms and narcotics indicate a well-organised and professionally managed smuggling network operating across borders.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested accused were actively linked to an international smuggling syndicate and were involved in the illegal trafficking of arms and narcotics. The network is suspected to have links extending beyond Punjab, raising concerns about its potential role in fuelling organised crime and narco-terror activities in the region.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Police authorities confirmed that forward and backward linkages of the accused are being thoroughly investigated to identify handlers, financiers, suppliers, and end recipients of the contraband.
Senior police officials stated that such operations are part of a sustained crackdown on criminal gangs and drug networks operating in Punjab. The focus remains on dismantling the entire ecosystem of organised crime rather than limiting action to individual arrests.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Punjab Police said it will continue to take strict and decisive action to break narco-terror networks, curb cross-border smuggling, and ensure public safety. The force reiterated its resolve to achieve the vision of a #DrugFreePunjab, as envisioned by the state leadership.
The operation once again underscores the Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards organised crime and its determination to safeguard Punjab and its people
