In a swift and coordinated action, Amritsar Rural Police, in a joint operation with BSF Punjab, recovered 3 kilograms of ICE (Methamphetamine) during a surprise check near village Bhaini Rajputtan. The joint team intercepted suspicious activity in the area, leading to the seizure of the high-value contraband.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Gharinda, and a technical investigation is currently underway to identify the smugglers involved and expose the broader network. Authorities suspect that the consignment may have been part of a larger cross-border narcotics operation.
Crackdown on Drug Smuggling Along Borders
This recovery adds to a series of successful anti-drug operations being conducted near the Indo-Pak border. The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has intensified surveillance and coordination with central agencies like the BSF to prevent smuggling through border routes.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reiterated that his government will not tolerate any form of drug trafficking, emphasizing that strong measures are being taken to break the nexus of smugglers operating from across the border. He praised the joint action of Punjab Police and BSF, stating that the operation reflects the state’s commitment to a drug-free Punjab.
Ongoing Investigations and Wider Network
According to officials, several leads have emerged from the preliminary probe, and more arrests are expected in the coming days. The seized substance will undergo forensic testing, while agencies continue tracking digital and phone-based communications linked to the suspects.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed in their statement that they remain dedicated to dismantling narcotics supply chains and ensuring peace and security in the border districts.
