A Solar Lighting Scheme to Upgrade Village Infrastructure
Under the Bhagwant Mann administration, a scheme has been devised in which solar lighting would be installed in Punjab villages in an investment of 470 crore rupees for around 3 lakh solar lights.
Improvement in Public Places
As per the plan, solar lighting would upgrade the visibility in the roads, streets and other public places of village areas. The scheme will provide for better basic infrastructure as well as renewable energy.
A Step Towards Sustainable Development
Through such initiatives by installing solar lights in rural parts of Punjab, the government intends to take care of public safety as well as clean energy generation. This project can also reduce villages’ reliance on traditional power for outdoor lighting.
