Bhagwant Mann government launches awareness campaign for Sri Guru Ravidas Ji’s 650th Prakash Purab

The Punjab government has launched a series of programmes to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, with awareness vans flagged off to showcase documentaries highlighting the life, teachings and contributions of the revered saint.

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO flagged off the awareness vans in Amritsar, stating that the initiative aims to spread the message of equality, social harmony and spiritual values associated with Guru Ravidas Ji among people across the state.

As part of the celebrations, the government announced that 6.5 lakh saplings will be planted across Amritsar district to promote environmental conservation. Officials said the plantation drive is intended to combine the religious occasion with a broader message of protecting nature and creating a greener Punjab.

The commemorative events will also include a marathon, a cycle rally and a drone show, with various cultural and public participation programmes planned to mark the historic occasion. These events are expected to engage people from different sections of society while honouring Guru Ravidas Ji’s legacy.

In addition, a Nagar Kirtan will begin from Jammu as part of the celebrations. The procession is expected to draw devotees from different regions and promote the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji through religious and cultural activities.

The Punjab government said the celebrations are aimed at paying tribute to the saint’s enduring message of equality, compassion and social justice while encouraging public participation in religious, cultural and environmental initiatives across the state.
