Bhagwant Mann Government Promotes Property Rights for Families Under ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ Scheme, Says Dr Balbir Singh

With recognised property rights, families can have greater security regarding their homes and a stronger sense of certainty about their assets.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr Balbir Singh highlighted the Bhagwant Mann government’s ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme, stating that the initiative is aimed at providing legal ownership rights to families living within the Lal Lakir areas of villages. He said the scheme is not merely about granting property rights but also about ensuring dignity, security and recognition for residents.

In a social media post, Dr Balbir Singh said the state government was working to provide permanent ownership rights to families who have been living in properties within the Lal Lakir. The initiative seeks to give eligible residents formal recognition of their ownership, helping them secure their homes and strengthen their property-related rights.

The minister said that providing ownership documents would also help protect the interests of future generations. With recognised property rights, families can have greater security regarding their homes and a stronger sense of certainty about their assets.

Dr Balbir Singh emphasised that ensuring every family receives its rightful entitlement and respect remains a priority for the Mann government. He described the scheme as an effort to connect property ownership with social dignity and long-term security for ordinary households.

The ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ initiative focuses on residents living within the Lal Lakir, the boundary traditionally marking the abadi or inhabited area of a village. Such properties have often remained outside the conventional land-record framework, making formal recognition of ownership important for eligible families.
