Punjab Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian rolled up his sleeves on Wednesday and took charge of relief efforts in Ratta Tibba village, making it clear that the Bhagwant Mann government isn’t just talking about helping flood-hit families—they’re on the ground, doing the work. Khuddian didn’t just oversee things from a distance. He handed out essential supplies himself and promised every affected family would get the help they needed.
Government’s Rapid Response to Crisis
After days of heavy rain and flooding in Punjab’s border areas, homes and fields took a serious hit. The government moved fast. They sent out teams to check the damage and started working with the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to sort out compensation.
Khuddian, who also looks after Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, said the government’s main focus is to give instant relief and also build back stronger. “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wants us to make sure every family gets help right away—food, medicine, relief for damaged crops, all of it,” he said.
Direct Aid Distribution in Ratta Tibba
In Ratta Tibba, one of the villages hit hardest, Khuddian handed out ration kits, drinking water, and medical supplies to dozens of families. The local team set up shelters and health camps to help people who had to leave their homes.
People in the village said they felt grateful to see a minister show up in person. It meant a lot, and it got things moving faster.
Assurance of Compensation and Rehabilitation
Khuddian also promised that farmers and families who lost crops or livestock would get compensation soon. Survey teams are already out there checking the losses. “We’re making sure the process is clear and quick. Our farmers keep Punjab going, and getting them back on their feet is priority number one,” he said.
The government isn’t stopping at short-term fixes. They’re planning to upgrade drainage and start new flood prevention projects so this kind of disaster doesn’t hit as hard next time.
A Government Focused on People-First Governance
Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab’s government is making sure ministers actually show up and check on welfare and relief programs themselves. They’re not just helping families right now—they’re working to get farming back on track and making government more accountable and focused on what people actually need.
As Khuddian wrapped up his visit, he pledged that Punjab’s recovery would stick to three things: compassion, efficiency, and accountability. That’s the Mann government’s promise as they help these communities rebuild and come back stronger.
