Bhagwant Mann: In a continued push against narcotics under the state’s anti-drug mission, Punjab Police reported major enforcement action on Day 353 of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ drive, with 84 drug smugglers arrested during coordinated raids across multiple districts of Punjab. Authorities confirmed the recovery of 2.1 kg heroin, 92 kg poppy husk, 720 intoxicant tablets or capsules, and ₹11,400 in suspected drug money as part of the operation.

Officials said the crackdown reflects the state’s intensified strategy combining intelligence-based raids and local policing to dismantle supply networks. Raids were conducted simultaneously at several locations, signaling a coordinated statewide enforcement effort targeting trafficking routes and distribution hubs.
84 Smugglers Arrested on Day 353 of Campaign
Police also highlighted a rehabilitation-focused approach alongside enforcement, noting that 55 individuals were counselled and motivated to undergo de-addiction treatment. Authorities stated that the campaign is designed not only to curb supply but also to address addiction through recovery support and social reintegration initiatives.
According to official figures, the cumulative number of drug smugglers arrested during the 353-day operation has reached 49,974, underscoring the scale of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive. The campaign has been repeatedly emphasized by the government led by Bhagwant Mann as part of its broader commitment to creating a drug-free state and strengthening law-and-order systems.
Security officials reiterated that enforcement operations will continue with sustained intensity, with more coordinated actions planned in the coming weeks to disrupt trafficking networks and prevent the circulation of illegal substances across the region.
