Referring to issues such as the administrative control over Panjab University and the ongoing debate surrounding Chandigarh, Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the Punjab government will not allow any encroachment on the state’s authority. He reiterated that both Panjab University and Chandigarh are integral parts of Punjab’s cultural, educational and administrative identity, and any unilateral decision by the Centre would be opposed.
The Chief Minister further stated that Punjab’s contribution to the nation is unmatched — from leading the freedom movement to safeguarding the country’s borders. He added that respect for the federal structure and equitable treatment of states is essential for India’s unity. According to Mann, Punjab will continue to raise its voice through democratic and constitutional means to ensure that its rights, legacy and institutions are protected without compromise.
