Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly asserted that Punjab has always stood at the forefront of India’s freedom struggle and national security, and will continue to defend its constitutional rights. In a recent statement, he said that despite Punjab’s historic sacrifices, repeated attempts are being made to undermine the state’s rightful powers.
Mann expressed concern that attempts are repeatedly being made to undermine Punjab’s authority and rightful share, whether relating to Panjab University or the Chandigarh administration. He emphasised that such efforts will not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister stated that his government remains fully committed to protecting Punjab’s historical, cultural and administrative rights, adding that every issue concerning the state’s identity and autonomy will be strongly defended at all forums.
Mann’s remarks resonate with growing public sentiment in Punjab, where concerns over federal rights and resource allocation have been widely discussed. His statement aims to reaffirm the government’s stance that Punjab’s interests will always be safeguarded.

Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the Punjab government will not allow any encroachment
Referring to issues such as the administrative control over Panjab University and the ongoing debate surrounding Chandigarh, Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the Punjab government will not allow any encroachment on the state’s authority. He reiterated that both Panjab University and Chandigarh are integral parts of Punjab’s cultural, educational and administrative identity, and any unilateral decision by the Centre would be opposed.

He added that respect for the federal structure and equitable treatment of states is essential for India’s unity. According to Mann, Punjab will continue to raise its voice through democratic and constitutional means to ensure that its rights, legacy and institutions are protected without compromise.
