In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police has intensified its fight against cross-border smuggling and terrorism. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Amritsar Rural Police arrested a man named Jarman Singh, suspected to have strong ties with Pakistan's spy agency ISI.
The arrest led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and a huge amount of fake currency. This marks another success for Punjab Police in its ongoing crackdown on terror networks.
ISI Link Busted in Amritsar, Weapons and Fake Currency Seized
Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrest and shared details of the seizure. The police recovered a Glock 9mm pistol, a .30 calibre pistol, three magazines, and ₹2.15 lakh in counterfeit currency. Initial probe suggests this consignment was sent by ISI agents from Pakistan to spark unrest in Punjab.
An FIR has been filed at Gharinda police station, and a deeper probe is underway to trace both forward and backward links in this ISI-backed operation.
Another ISI-Linked Arrest Last Week, Terror Attack Averted in Punjab
In a separate case just last week, Counter Intelligence Amritsar prevented a possible terror strike. The police nabbed Jaiveer Tyagi, alias Jawed, with a hand grenade in his possession. He was arrested from near Tara Wala Pul in Amritsar.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Tyagi had been living in Ludhiana for over a decade. Investigations revealed that he was in touch with a foreign-based handler named Sehlam, believed to be an ISI agent. Communication between them happened via encrypted apps.
Punjab Police Remain Vigilant Against Smuggling and Terror Under Bhagwant Mann
The recent arrests reflect Punjab Police’s alertness and the government's zero-tolerance policy toward terror. With repeated seizures of weapons and fake currency, it's clear that the network is deep, but efforts under Bhagwant Mann are tightening the noose around these threats.
