Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday announced the formation of monitoring committees at the village level to supervise development works on the ground.
Chairing a meeting with representatives of youth clubs here today, the Chief Minister said the state government has launched several projects to accelerate the development of Punjab. He emphasized that the need of the hour is to ensure the optimal utilization of taxpayers’ money, for which public scrutiny is crucial. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that village-level monitoring committees will be formed to oversee development works and ensure their smooth and transparent execution.
The Chief Minister stated that these committees will include members of youth clubs along with other elected village representatives. He envisioned these committees as watchdogs to ensure the proper execution of these projects at the local level. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that these committees will be responsible for flawless execution of these projects to benefit the common man.
Reiterating the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of Punjab with active public participation, especially that of the youth, the Chief Minister urged youth clubs to play a vital role in promoting sports at the village level. He assured full support from the state government for such initiatives. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will be instrumental in channelising the unbounded energy of youth in a positive direction.
