Punjab News: CM Bhagwant Mann’s Govt Strengthens Social Security: Over 34.40 Lakh Beneficiaries Receiving Pension in Punjab

Pension Benefiting 34.40 Lakh Citizens

At present, nearly 34.40 lakh beneficiaries are receiving a monthly pension of ₹1,500, which has brought a huge relief to elderly citizens. For many, this pension is not just financial aid but a crucial support system that ensures a dignified life. CM Bhagwant Mann has emphasized that pensions must be credited on time, so that the elderly do not face hardships.

43,644 New Pension Approvals in FY 2025-26

The Punjab government has also added 43,644 new beneficiaries in the ongoing financial year 2025-26. This expansion highlights the state’s commitment to extending welfare benefits to every eligible citizen without delay.

₹6,175 Crore Allocated for Social Security

The Mann government has allocated ₹6,175 crore for various social security initiatives in the current fiscal year. Out of this, ₹1,539 crore has already been released till May 2025 exclusively for pension schemes. These funds are being utilized to ensure that every eligible person receives their due share without bureaucratic delays.

‘Hamare Buzurg, Hamara Mann’ Campaign

To strengthen outreach, the Punjab government is conducting a statewide survey under the ‘Hamare Buzurg, Hamara Mann’ campaign. This survey aims to identify and enroll all elderly citizens who are eligible for pensions, ensuring no one is left behind.

The proactive steps taken by the Mann government underline its dedication to social welfare, inclusivity, and timely delivery of benefits. By empowering the elderly, women, and children through structured welfare measures, Punjab is setting an example of people-centric governance.
