Rajasthan Dowry News: In a heart-wrenching tragedy from Jodhpur district, Rajasthan, a young woman and her three-year-old daughter lost their lives in an alleged case of dowry harassment. The incident comes at a time when the state is still reeling from the shock of the Nikki murder case, once again drawing attention to the menace of dowry-related crimes.

The victim, 30-year-old school lecturer Sanju Bishnoi, allegedly set herself and her daughter, Yashasvi, ablaze inside their home in Sarnada village under Dangiyawas police station limits. According to officials, the horrifying incident took place on Friday afternoon when Sanju returned from school. While the toddler died on the spot, Sanju succumbed to severe burn injuries during treatment on Saturday morning.

Suicide Note Found, In-Laws Accused

Police confirmed the recovery of a handwritten note, suspected to be a suicide letter. In the note, Sanju accused her husband, Dilip Bishnoi, along with her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law, of relentless harassment and cruelty linked to dowry demands. She also named another individual, Ganpat Singh, alleging that he had harassed her. Investigators are currently probing his role in the case.

FIR Registered, Investigation Underway

Following the tragic deaths, Sanju’s father, Omaram Bishnoi, lodged an FIR accusing her in-laws of abetment to suicide. Police have seized her mobile phone and collected forensic evidence from the scene. “The note and other material evidence are under examination, and questioning of relatives and neighbours is ongoing,” said a police official.

Family Dispute and Cremation

Tensions escalated between Sanju’s parents and in-laws over custody of her body. Eventually, after the post-mortem examination, the remains were handed over to her parents. A joint cremation of mother and daughter was performed, leaving the entire village in mourning.

This tragic case highlights the ongoing battle against dowry-related violence in Rajasthan. Authorities have assured strict action against those found guilty, even as the investigation continues.
