Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Police continued its state-wide crackdown on organised crime on Tuesday, marking Day 245 of the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ (War on Gangsters) campaign with 528 raids conducted across the state.
What Happened On Day 245
According to official figures, police teams arrested 236 individuals during the day’s operation and recovered six weapons from their possession. This takes the total number of arrests under the campaign to 72,881 since it began. Alongside the arrests, preventive action was taken against 168 persons, and four proclaimed offenders were also apprehended during the raids.
About The Campaign
‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, with the stated aim of making Punjab a gangster-free state. Police teams from every district have since worked in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to carry out targeted operations against gangster networks and their associates at identified and mapped locations across the state.
Citizens have been encouraged to anonymously share tips about wanted criminals, gangsters, or other criminal activity through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
Parallel Anti-Drug Drive Also Continues
Running alongside the anti-gangster campaign, Punjab’s anti-drug operation ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) entered its 570th consecutive day. On Tuesday, police arrested 116 drug smugglers and recovered 176 grams of contraband, taking the total number of drug smugglers arrested since the drive began to 79,227 in 570 days. As part of the state’s de-addiction push, police also persuaded 12 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on the day.

Bhagwant Mann: Since its launch in January, the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign has grown into one of the state’s most sustained law enforcement drives, with cumulative arrests crossing 72,800 and regular recoveries of illegal weapons, ammunition, and, in earlier phases of the campaign, explosives and grenades.
