Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the launch of faceless RTO (Regional Transport Office) services, aimed at eliminating public inconvenience and ensuring hassle-free access to essential transport-related facilities. The initiative, set to be launched live from Ludhiana alongside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, marks a major step toward transparency and digital governance in the state.
Digital Governance for Citizens’ Ease
Mann emphasized that the faceless RTO system will allow citizens to avail services such as vehicle registration, driving licenses, and other transport-related documents without visiting government offices. This initiative is expected to reduce corruption, middlemen interference, and long queues, making the system more efficient and citizen-friendly.
In Collaboration with Delhi’s Model
The move follows the success of Delhi’s faceless transport services model, introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government under CM Arvind Kejriwal. Punjab’s adoption of this system reflects AAP’s commitment to bringing technological reforms that empower citizens and streamline governance.
Public Convenience and Efficiency at Core
Through this initiative, the Mann government aims to make government services more accessible, transparent, and time-saving. Citizens will be able to apply, upload documents, and receive approvals online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to RTO offices.
