On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Pungovernment reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug abuse and narcotics trafficking through sustained enforcement, public awareness, and community participation.

In a message marking the observance, the government said drug addiction remains a serious challenge not only for Punjab but for societies around the world. It emphasized that addressing the menace requires collective efforts from governments, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, families, and citizens.

The government highlighted its ongoing ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, describing it as a people-centric initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking while encouraging prevention, awareness, de-addiction, and rehabilitation. Officials stated that the campaign has continued with regular enforcement drives and public outreach programmes across the state.

According to the government, community support has played a significant role in strengthening anti-drug efforts, with citizens being encouraged to report illegal drug-related activities and assist authorities in building a drug-free Punjab.

Officials also stressed the importance of educating young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles. They noted that awareness and early intervention are key to preventing addiction and protecting future generations.
