L20 inaugural meet in Amritsar today, Hiranmay J Pandya addresses media

The two-day meeting of the LABOUR-20 under the Chairmanship of India began in Amritsar in Punjab today. In this, representatives of labour unions of G-20 countries, experts and labor leaders are discussing the solution of labor related issues. The country’s largest labor organization Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh also has participation in the conference.

This inaugural meeting of L20 is an opportunity to present our stand to the world community on important global issues. Social security for all, international migration of workers, portability of social security funds, social protection for informal sector workers, role and responsibility of employers in skill training and skill upgradation besides employee-government relations will be discussed in the meeting.

“The feedback collected from discussions here will be compiled with the recommendation of various representatives, which will further be tabled in ministerial meetings scheduled in September at New Delhi for devising a final conclusion draft to be implemented,” BMS national president Hiranmay Pandya said.

Pawan Kumar, media coordinator, “at present, eight foreign representatives of the G20 group have already arrived and more are expected to join the meeting sessions by late evening or early morning. Those, who will not turn up due to some unavoidable circumstances, will join the session virtually,” he said.
