Punjab News

When Punjab faced the flood crisis, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government fulfilled their responsibilities on the ground with full dedication. Now, as the water recedes, the Mann government has launched a massive campaign for relief, cleanliness, and reconstruction. From September 14 to September 23, a special drive for cleaning and restoration is being conducted across the state, simultaneously starting in more than 2,300 villages and urban wards.

The aim of this mega campaign is to make every street, every locality, and every ward clean, hygienic, and even better than before. To remove the silt, sludge, and filth left behind by waterlogging, clear instructions have been given to municipal corporations, councils, and panchayats. In several districts, more than 1,000 sanitation workers, over 200 tractor-trolleys, 150 JCB machines, and hundreds of health workers are continuously engaged in this mission. The government has appointed nodal officers in every district who are directly supervising the work. Each zone has been assigned to an officer with strict instructions to stay on the ground every day until the work is complete. Commissioners in municipal corporations and ADCs in districts have been given the special responsibility to ensure no complaint remains unresolved.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself is closely monitoring the entire campaign. He is in constant touch with officials and personally reviewing the situation. He has clearly stated that this is not a formal ritualistic drive, but a struggle to bring happiness back to every household in Punjab.

The focus is not only on cleanliness but also equally on health services. The Health Department is carrying out medicine spraying, clean water supply, and primary medical camps in flood-affected areas. As per the advisory issued on September 5, all ULBs have been directed to immediately implement sanitation and disease-prevention measures.

A fast-track survey has also begun to assess the damage caused by the floods. Engineering teams are evaluating houses, shops, roads, electric poles, and water supply projects—both public and private properties—so that compensation can be provided to every affected person at the earliest.

The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has directed that full transparency be maintained in all works, which is why ‘before and after’ photographs of each task are being taken. This process will ensure that no work is left incomplete and government aid reaches every needy person. Beginning today, September 14, the Mann government’s special cleanliness and rehabilitation campaign has kicked off with full force in all districts of Punjab. From the morning itself, municipal corporation and local administration teams have been out in the field. The noise of JCB machines and the movement of tractor-trolleys clearly indicate that Punjab has now moved from relief to full-fledged reconstruction. People themselves are saying that for the first time, the government has reached every lane and corner with such speed and seriousness. Witnessing this, the public now believes that the government doesn’t just make announcements, but actually works on the ground—tirelessly and without pause.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s approach has once again proved that even a disaster like floods, if handled responsibly, can strengthen people’s courage rather than weaken it. This time, the government has considered the floods not just as a natural crisis, but as a test of the courage, service spirit, and unity of Punjabis. Relief work has not been treated as an event or a publicity stunt, but as an opportunity for public service and accountability. And that is the difference between a true people’s government and show-off politics.

The floods came, damages occurred, but the government did not falter. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his team stepped into the field themselves. This is the difference the people can now clearly see—while some parties look for politics in crises, the Mann government looks for solutions. Today, as the opposition drafts questions, the Mann government is answering through its work—by standing among the people, in their pinds. And that is why today, all of Punjab is saying: the Mann government stands tall, proud, and shoulder to shoulder with its people—always, in every situation.
