In Punjab and Haryana, people are facing severe cold and many places recorded a huge drop in the minimum temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, Bathinda was the coldest place in Punjab where the minimum temperature was recorded at 0.4 degree Celsius, while Mandkola in Haryana recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.3 degree Celsius.
Mercury dropped in Chandigarh
Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 4.1 degrees Celsius, Patiala 5.8 degrees Celsius, Pathankot 3.4 degrees Celsius, Faridkot 2.2 degrees Celsius, Moga 1.2 degrees Celsius, while Gurdaspur recorded a minimum temperature of four degrees Celsius. Fatehabad in Haryana recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius, while Hisar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius, Narnaul 4.2 degrees, Bhiwani 6.2 degrees, Sirsa 3.4 degrees Celsius and Jhajjar 6.1 degrees. Mercury in Srinagar below minus five degrees
The cold wave intensified in Kashmir with the mercury falling to over minus five degrees Celsius in Srinagar, while Gulmarg and Pahalgam recorded the season’s lowest temperatures so far. Officials said Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday night, which is the biggest drop in night temperature in the city so far this winter. He told that Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 9.6 degrees Celsius.
