Under Bhagwant Mann leadership Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has welcomed an independent social audit of government schools conducted by a team led by Saurav Das, saying public feedback will help the state government identify shortcomings and improve the quality of school education.

In a post on social media, Bains thanked Saurav for visiting government schools in Punjab and conducting an independent assessment. He said the government welcomes both appreciation and criticism, adding that shortcomings highlighted through such audits can help authorities work towards improving school infrastructure and facilities.

Bains said he had taken note of the issues pointed out by the visiting team and would personally monitor their resolution. He stressed that the Punjab government’s objective is to ensure that every child has access to a safe, modern and high-quality government school.
The minister also said government schools in Punjab remain open to public scrutiny and audits. According to him, the administration is willing to acknowledge shortcomings and take corrective measures instead of avoiding criticism.
The statement came after Saurav Das shared observations from a social audit carried out by his team in Ludhiana. The team visited government schools to assess conditions and highlight issues that, according to them, require attention.
Bains said the state government would continue working to bring all of Punjab’s around 20,000 government schools up to the desired standards. He added that maintaining those standards would remain an ongoing responsibility even after improvements are made.
