Punjab Police: In a major breakthrough against terror-gangster networks, the Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with central agencies, arrested Malkeet Singh, a resident of Pandori village, Amritsar. The operation led to the recovery of one hand grenade, a .30 bore Px5 pistol, and 10 live rounds of ammunition.

According to preliminary investigations, Malkeet Singh maintained direct links with UK-based gangster Dharma Sandhu, who is known to be a close aide of Harwinder Rinda, a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative currently based in Pakistan. Rinda is a wanted figure with deep ties to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), which has been accused of backing multiple terror modules in Punjab.
The swift operation highlights the Punjab Police’s growing effectiveness in dismantling such networks under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Security experts note that timely intelligence sharing and coordination with central agencies played a crucial role in foiling what could have been a serious security threat.
Punjab DGP emphasized in a statement that the police remain committed to neutralizing terror-gangster nexuses and ensuring that the peace and harmony of the state is safeguarded. “This arrest is not just about seizing weapons but about preventing potential terror activities that could disrupt public safety,” an official said.

The development has been widely welcomed across Punjab, as it reflects the state government’s focus on law and order and people’s security. Over the past months, the Mann government has consistently reiterated that Punjab’s soil will not be allowed to be used by gangsters, drug cartels, or terror outfits.
Further investigation is underway to expose the larger network, identify financers and handlers abroad, and trace possible sleeper cells within the state. Authorities have assured that strong action will continue against all who attempt to disturb peace.
