Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly criticized the Union Budget 2025, claiming that the central government has once again ignored Punjab. He alleged that no provisions were made for Punjab’s farmers, youth, or industries, leaving the state without any meaningful financial support for its economic growth and future development.
No MSP, No Industrial Package for Punjab
Taking to social media, CM Mann expressed his disappointment, stating that the budget failed to address the long-pending demand for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops, a critical issue for Punjab’s farmers. Additionally, he pointed out that no industrial package was allocated to the state, despite Punjab's need for economic revival and employment generation.
"The Union government has not provided anything for Punjab’s farmers or youth. There is no MSP for crops, no industrial package, and nothing that could help improve Punjab’s economy or future," Mann said in his post.
A "Poll-Centric Budget" with Focus on Bihar
CM Mann further accused the central government of presenting a politically motivated budget, focusing only on Bihar, while completely sidelining Punjab. He referred to it as a "poll-centric budget", designed to appeal to voters in election-bound states rather than addressing national economic concerns.
"This budget is only an election budget, with announcements solely for Bihar. Once again, Punjab and Punjabis have been treated unfairly," he remarked.
Punjab Will Stand Strong on Its Own: Mann
Despite the lack of central support, the Punjab CM asserted that the state will continue to progress on its own strength. He emphasized his government's commitment to uplifting Punjab's economy without relying on central assistance.
"Punjab will stand on its own feet, and we will ensure its progress through our own efforts," Mann affirmed.
With the absence of financial aid for Punjab, the criticism from the Chief Minister highlights a growing political divide between the state and the Centre. As Punjab grapples with agricultural and economic challenges, the lack of support in the Union Budget 2025 could further deepen tensions between the AAP-led Punjab government and the BJP-led central government.
