Punjab News: In a major initiative to strengthen healthcare services in flood-affected regions, the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann flagged off ‘Sevak Rath’ ambulances equipped with advanced medical facilities.

The ambulances were inaugurated by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema in Mohali, in the presence of local MLA Kulwant Singh of SAS Nagar and other dignitaries. These mobile healthcare units are designed to provide essential medical check-ups, emergency care, and preventive health services to people in areas severely impacted by recent floods.

The initiative is closely aligned with Punjab’s ongoing ‘Mission Chardikala’, launched by the Mann government to rebuild and rehabilitate communities affected by devastating floods. Healthcare, along with housing, livelihood, and infrastructure revival, has been identified as a priority sector in the mission. The government has already appealed to citizens and NRIs to contribute generously to the mission, and over 1,000 donors have extended their support so far.

Govt’s Focus on Public Welfare

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for every citizen, especially during crises. “The ‘Sevak Rath’ ambulances symbolize our promise of bringing healthcare to the people instead of making them struggle to reach hospitals. This is about dignity, safety, and timely care,” he said.

The Mann government has been consistently investing in improving Punjab’s health infrastructure, from modernizing hospitals to expanding mobile medical services. The new ambulances are expected to remain operational even beyond the flood recovery phase, serving as a long-term asset for the state’s healthcare system.

Equipped for Emergency and Routine Care

The ‘Sevak Rath’ ambulances are fully equipped with modern diagnostic tools and basic life support systems. They will cater to both urgent medical needs and regular health check-ups, ensuring timely care reaches the most vulnerable communities.

Govt’s Commitment to Public Welfare

The initiative reflects the Mann government’s continued focus on strengthening public healthcare infrastructure across Punjab. Officials stated that these ambulances will not only address immediate post-flood health challenges but also contribute to long-term healthcare access in rural and underserved areas.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that his government remains committed to ensuring quality healthcare reaches every corner of Punjab, particularly during times of crisis.
