Punjab News: In a remarkable gesture of recognition and support, the Punjab government presented a substantial sum of Rs 33.83 crore in cash awards to 168 winners of the Asian Games and National Games. This initiative, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, received heartfelt appreciation from both national and international sports personalities hailing from Punjab.

Sift Kaur Samra, who clinched the gold medal in the Women’s 50-meter rifle three positions event at the 2022 Asian Games, expressed her gratitude, highlighting the unprecedented move by the Punjab government to provide an advance cash award of Rs 8 lakh each for athletes' preparation. She acknowledged this as a significant step forward, thanking the government for its encouragement and pledging that the athletes would strive to secure more medals in future tournaments.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor, the gold medalist in Shot Put, commended the Punjab government for promptly delivering on its promise to provide cash awards immediately after the sporting events. Toor emphasized the impact of these cash incentives, stating that they serve as a substantial amount for aspiring players, fostering a supportive environment that will undoubtedly inspire more individuals to actively participate in sports within the state.
