Punjab News: Government Initiates Action Against Fake Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Certificates

Punjab News: Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities in Punjab, has directed various Punjab Government departments and Deputy Commissioners to take action against individuals found to possess fake Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Certificates. While certificates have been canceled, legal action has not yet been initiated against these individuals.

Scheduled Caste Certificates have already been canceled

The minister revealed that a state-level scrutiny committee has been established by the Punjab Government to review cases. Scheduled Caste Certificates have already been canceled for individuals in various districts, including Patiala, Kapurthala, S.A.S Nagar, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Muktsar Sahib, and Fazilka. Additionally, a Backward Class Certificate from Patiala has also been canceled.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stressed that Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts have been instructed to cancel and confiscate fraudulent certificates and ensure legal action is taken against individuals who secure employment using such certificates. The Punjab Government is committed to upholding principles of integrity and will continue to take action against misuse of Scheduled Caste certificates.

The Minister has urged Deputy Commissioners to resolve these cases within specified timeframes and submit timely reports. The government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, remains dedicated to protecting the interests of Scheduled Caste individuals.
