Punjab: Police assault protesters outside Chief Minister’s residence. Watch Video

Punjab: On Wednesday, workers from different Punjab labour organisations gathered outside Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence and battled with police, demanding that all of their requests be met.

March began from Patiala Bypass to the CM’s house

The employees began their march at Patiala Bypass and marched to the CM’s house in Sangrur. Outside Bhagwant Mann’s house, there is a large police presence.

Some workers were injured when police used lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
Workers have started a dharna outside the gate, demanding that their demands be met. Protesters battled with police, who used batons to calm the scene.

Demands of protesters

According to reports, the workers have requested an increase in the minimum daily salary to Rs 700 under the MNREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) and the distribution of five-marla plots to Dalits and SCs.
