In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police arrested two key operatives of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang—Jashan Sandhu and Gursewak Singh—from Mohali. The arrests are being seen as a major success under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership in curbing gangster activity across the state.
International Fugitive Tracked and Captured
Jashan Sandhu, a wanted accused in a 2023 murder case in Ganganagar, Rajasthan, had been evading arrest for months by frequently changing his location across Georgia, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. After arriving in Nepal from Dubai, he tried to sneak into India via road, but was intercepted by Punjab Police’s vigilant forces.
Network Uncovered Through Interrogation
Initial investigations suggest that Jashan played a critical role in logistics and support for the Bishnoi-Godara gang. His arrest has already led to important revelations, including:
Identification of overseas Hawala operators
Names of involved travel agents
Locations of fugitive gangsters hiding abroad
Officials say this information is vital to breaking the international nexus of gang activity.
Weapons Recovered
The AGTF recovered:
One .32 caliber pistol
7 live cartridges
The recovery is seen as a preventive blow to possible violent crimes in Punjab and New Delhi.
State’s Stand Against Organized Crime
The arrests come amid the Mann government’s sustained push to ensure public safety and break the backbone of gang violence in the region.
“This is a big step forward in dismantling organized criminal networks. Punjab Police remains fully committed to protecting our citizens,” a spokesperson for @PunjabPoliceInd stated.
