Punjab Police Busts Cross-Border Drug Cartel, Seize 5 Kg Heroin

In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a cross-border drug cartel and arrested four individuals who were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers. These smugglers used drones to push drugs across the border into India.

During the operation, the police seized 5 kg of heroin. An FIR has been lodged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Chheharta Police Station, and further investigations are underway to establish the full extent of the cartel\’s operations.

Investigations to Trace Smuggling Links

The arrested individuals are suspected to have played key roles in coordinating the delivery and distribution of drugs using drones. Police are focusing on identifying backward linkages, including suppliers in Pakistan, as well as forward linkages within India to dismantle the entire network.

The operation highlights the increasing use of drones by smugglers to bypass border security and deliver narcotics into Indian territory. Security agencies are now emphasizing stronger surveillance measures to counter this rising threat.

Punjab Police’s Ongoing Anti-Drug Efforts

The Punjab Police has consistently demonstrated its commitment to combat drug smuggling and make the state drug-free. “Our mission to eliminate drug trafficking and dismantle organized networks remains steadfast,” a Punjab Police official stated.

This latest success follows a series of anti-drug operations aimed at cracking down on trafficking rings that exploit cross-border connections and technology.

Call for Vigilance

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The state government is also pushing for more advanced technology and cooperation with central agencies to curb the growing menace of cross-border drug smuggling.

Further updates on the investigation are expected as the police continue their efforts to trace and dismantle the drug cartel’s supply chain.
