Anurag Dhanda: Punjab Police has dismissed as fake social media messages claiming that police personnel had been directed to avoid wearing uniforms while travelling to and from duty.
The clarification came after an alleged advisory circulated on social media, purportedly instructing personnel to wear civilian clothes while commuting. Punjab Police said neither its headquarters nor any office under it had issued such an advisory.

According to the police clarification, there is no directive asking personnel to avoid wearing uniforms while travelling to or from duty or to wear civilian clothes during their commute.
Police urged both personnel and members of the public to rely on official communication channels for authentic information and to ignore such messages circulating on social media.
The alleged circular had reportedly been presented as an internal communication from the Border Range Police in Amritsar. It was said to contain instructions related to the safety of police personnel while travelling, including avoiding displaying police identity in public. Punjab Police, however, rejected the document as unauthorised and fake.
Anurag Dhanda Reacts to Fake Content
AAP Punjab leader Anurag Dhanda also reacted to the controversy, sharing the Punjab Police fact-check and describing the circulating audio and video content as fake.
In his post, Dhanda urged those responsible for creating such content to stop circulating fabricated audio and videos. He also challenged political opponents to contest elections directly rather than relying on such material.
His remarks came in response to the controversy surrounding the alleged police advisory, which had triggered political reactions in Punjab.
