Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the Amritsar Rural Police arrested a drug smuggler identified as Tarsem Singh alias Sema, a resident of Ratan Kalan village in Amritsar. During the operation, officials recovered 3 kilograms of heroin from his possession. The arrest follows an ongoing crackdown by the police on drug-related crimes in the region.

According to initial investigations, the seized narcotics were smuggled into India from across the Indo-Pak border, raising serious concerns about continued cross-border drug trafficking. Investigators believe that the heroin was part of a larger consignment intended for distribution across the state. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Gharinda. Authorities confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the entire network involved in the smuggling operation.
