Punjab Police: CM Bhagwant Mann Applauds Police for Seizing 3 Kg Heroin in Amritsar, Drug Smuggler Arrested

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the Amritsar Rural Police arrested a drug smuggler identified as Tarsem Singh alias Sema, a resident of Ratan Kalan village in Amritsar. During the operation, officials recovered 3 kilograms of heroin from his possession. The arrest follows an ongoing crackdown by the police on drug-related crimes in the region.

Tarsem Singh apprehended; preliminary probe indicates cross-border smuggling from Pakistan

According to initial investigations, the seized narcotics were smuggled into India from across the Indo-Pak border, raising serious concerns about continued cross-border drug trafficking. Investigators believe that the heroin was part of a larger consignment intended for distribution across the state. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Gharinda. Authorities confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the entire network involved in the smuggling operation.

3 Kg Heroin Seized in Amritsar, Drug Smuggler Arrested

The police are also looking into whether Tarsem Singh is connected to other individuals or groups operating along the border, with intelligence agencies working together to identify all those involved in the illegal trafficking. This latest seizure comes at a time when Punjab has been witnessing increased efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the spread of drugs within the state.
