Punjab Police Seize 8 Illegal Weapons in Joint Ops with BSF, Four Arrested for Arms Trafficking

In a significant crackdown on cross-border arms trafficking, the Amritsar Rural Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, have arrested four individuals and seized eight illegal weapons in two separate operations—one of which was conducted jointly with the Border Security Force (BSF Punjab).

The seized cache includes five pistols of .30 caliber and three pistols of 9mm caliber, all recovered along with their magazines. The operations mark a major success in the ongoing efforts to dismantle organized arms trafficking networks operating along the Punjab border.

FIRs Registered, Network Under Scanner

Following the seizures, FIRs have been registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar. A detailed investigation is currently underway to unearth the wider network involved in these trans-border activities and identify any links to larger criminal syndicates or terror outfits.

Senior officials confirmed that the accused were part of an international arms smuggling network operating through Punjab’s border regions, and more arrests are likely as the probe progresses.

Punjab Police Reaffirms Tough Stand on Crime

Taking to social media, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab stated that the Punjab Police is firmly committed to cracking down on organized crime and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The joint operation with BSF highlights the strong coordination between state and central security forces to tackle threats that originate beyond the national border.

Heightened Vigil Along Border Areas

In recent months, security has been intensified in Punjab’s border districts amid growing concerns over cross-border smuggling of arms, drugs, and explosives. Intelligence agencies have flagged increased attempts to push weapons into Indian territory, often through drones or couriers operating under the radar.

Police sources revealed that surveillance, human intelligence, and digital monitoring were key in tracking down the accused and executing the operations successfully.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, reiterating their commitment to a safe and secure Punjab.
