Rs 99 crore released for upgrade of tehsils in Punjab

Rs 99.60 crore has been released after the approval of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for construction of new tehsil complexes in different districts of Punjab and upgradation of offices of several tehsils/sub-tehsils. Revenue Minister Brahmashankar Zimpa said that for the convenience of the common people and to further streamline the work of the Revenue Department, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government has taken initiative for new construction of several Tehsil/Sub-Tehsil offices.

He said that many offices were running in old and dilapidated buildings and lack of facilities at many places. Therefore, Rs 99.60 crore has been released to make these offices companions of time. GIMPA informed that Rs 2.52 crore has been released for Hajipur Tehsil Complex in Hoshiarpur district. With this, Rs 1.04 crore, Rs 1.47 crore and Rs 1.42 crore have been released for the construction of complexes in 3 sub-tehsils of Bathinda district, Goniana, Nathana and Baliyanwali, respectively. Rs 5.98 crore has been given for the construction of Tehsil Complex of Talwandi Sabo.

Jimpa informed that Rs 98.98 lakh has been released for the construction of the first floor and repair of the ground floor of Tehsil Complex at Jaito in Faridkot. Rs 8.61 crore has been released for the construction of new buildings at Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib. Rs 3.50 crore has been given for the construction of new building at Abohar while Rs 6.19 crore has been given for the new building at Guruharsahai.

Similarly, Rs 6.60 crore, Rs 5.50 crore, Rs 5.98 crore and Rs 44.96 lakh have been released for new buildings in Kalanaur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Phagwara and Machhiwara respectively. Rs 9.42 crore and Rs 6.69 crore have been released for the new complexes to be built at Ahmedgarh and Amargarh in Malerkotla. Rs 1.71 crore has been released for construction of buildings in Moga and Samalsar sub-tehsils while Rs 5.38 crore has been released for Dudhan Sadha Tehsil Complex in Patiala. The Goods Minister informed that Rs 5.14 crore, Rs 4.31 crore, Rs 10.68 crore and Rs 3.05 crore have been released for the new buildings to be constructed at Chamkaur Sahib, Cheema (Sangrur), Didba and Banur respectively. Of these, the foundation stone of Cheema and Didba tehsil complexes was laid by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself in May, 2023.

Zimpa said that in addition to this amount, the Chief Minister has approved the release of another Rs 70.76 crore. After this, construction of new tehsil complex will also start in Hoshiarpur. An amount of Rs 6.52 crore has been sanctioned for this purpose. Apart from this, tehsils / sub-tehsils of many districts of Punjab like Faridkot, Samana, Phillaur, Shahkot, Kapurthala, Nakodar, Batala, Rupnagar, Dinanagar, Muktsar Sahib, Jalandhar, Pathankot will be beautified.
