At a high-level meeting held on Tuesday in the presence of the Agriculture Minister and the Cooperative Minister, the Chief Minister issued firm directions to ensure adequate availability and smooth distribution of fertilisers across the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that no leniency will be shown to those involved in the sale of adulterated or counterfeit fertilisers, or in fertiliser black marketing. He said, “Such elements will face strict action under the National Security Act (NSA).”

He emphasised that if farmers face any difficulty related to fertilisers, responsibility will be fixed, and regardless of rank or position, the guilty will not be spared.

He instructed both ministers to review the fertiliser supply and distribution status daily. The Chief Minister’s Office will directly monitor all districts, and any irregularity in fertiliser distribution will be unacceptable.

The Chief Minister directed District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, and Sub-District Magistrates to personally conduct surprise inspections of fertilizer shops and fertilizer committees. He stressed that overcharging must not occur under any circumstances and that fertilizer committees must remain operational for the prescribed duration. DAP, urea, and potash fertilisers must be made available to farmers strictly at government-notified rates. Wherever irregularities are detected, immediate accountability must be ensured.

He further said, “The activities of field officials will be under continuous monitoring. Any instance of collusion or negligence at any level will invite an open vigilance inquiry.”

The Chief Minister reiterated that there is no place in the state for those who attempt to create artificial shortages or disrupt fertiliser supplies.

During the meeting, officials informed the Chief Minister that by December 16, 2025, a total of 9.57 lakh metric tons of urea, 3.77 lakh metric tons of DAP, and 3.67 lakh metric tons of NPK fertilisers will be available in the state. Of the total urea stock, 3.79 lakh metric tons are available in the cooperative sector and 5.78 lakh metric tons in the private sector. DAP availability stands at 1.47 lakh metric tons in the cooperative sector and 2.30 lakh metric tons in the private sector, while NPK availability is 0.88 lakh metric tons in the cooperative sector and 2.79 lakh metric tons in the private sector.

The Chief Minister was also informed that sowing of Rabi crops is nearly complete and that urea distribution is underway for top dressing of the wheat crop. Compared to the same period last year, urea sales have increased, with an average daily distribution of 54,249 metric tons.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that, despite adequate availability, no farmer should be forced to run from place to place for fertilisers.
