Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday joined NSUI National In-charge Kanhaiya Kumar in Begusarai for the 'Palayan Roko Naukri Do' rally. The rally, organized by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), aims to highlight the issue of youth migration from Bihar due to chronic unemployment and lack of government jobs.

Drawing massive crowds, the rally turned into a powerful display of public frustration and political messaging. Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi criticized the central and Bihar state governments for what he called a “complete failure” in creating job opportunities for the state's youth. He said that Bihar’s talented young population is being forced to leave their homes, families, and native soil in search of basic employment in other states.

“There can be no greater injustice than a young person wanting to work in their own hometown but being forced to migrate due to joblessness. Bihar deserves better. India deserves better,” Gandhi said, adding that the Congress party stands firmly with the youth of Bihar.
Can This Campaign Reignite Congress’s Presence in Bihar?
The larger political question remains: can this movement help the Congress re-establish its relevance in Bihar’s political landscape? Once a dominant force in the state, the Congress has gradually lost ground over the past two decades, particularly after the rise of regional players like JD(U), RJD, and the BJP’s expanding reach.
By aligning with youth concerns and showcasing a strong presence through leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar, the party seems to be attempting a grassroots revival. Political analysts believe the campaign could resonate with first-time voters and unemployed graduates — a demographic that has felt overlooked in recent years.
Kanhaiya Kumar, who hails from Begusarai and has emerged as a strong voice on youth issues, said the campaign is not just political but personal for every family in Bihar. He said that every home in the state has seen someone migrate for survival, and that this has become a deep-rooted issue.
“Palayan Roko Naukri Do is a people’s movement. We are not asking for favors. We are demanding what is rightfully ours—employment, dignity, and the right to live and work in our own land,” Kanhaiya said while addressing the crowd.
The rally also served as a show of unity among the Congress youth wings and local supporters. Slogans demanding job creation and justice echoed through the streets of Begusarai as thousands of young people participated with placards, flags, and a sense of urgency.
With this campaign gaining momentum, both Rahul Gandhi and Kanhaiya Kumar have made it clear that the fight against unemployment and forced migration will remain central to their political narrative ahead of the 2024 general elections.
