Rajasthan News: Kolihan Mine Rescue Operations Underway! 8 of 15 Trapped Workers Saved

Rajasthan News: According to officials here, eight of the fifteen employees—including vigilance officers and workers of Hindustan Copper Ltd.—who were trapped at 1,875 feet in a mine at Kolihan near Khetri in Rajasthan‘s Neem Ka thana district were rescued today. They added that the operation was in progress and that the remaining employees would soon be removed.

Nighttime Crisis

On May 14, late at night, the 15 workers became stuck in the mine. At about 7 am, the first three individuals were evacuated and sent to Jaipur Hospital. At approximately 9.10 am, five individuals were eliminated in the second round. According to the officials, those who were rescued were in good health.

Food and Medications Delivered to Trapped Workers

Food packets and medications were being delivered to the individuals confined within. Ambulance and medical teams have been stationed nearby and kept on high alert. Not long after the incident became public, police teams and a dozen ambulances and doctors were dispatched to the scene to begin the rescue operation.

The head of Khetri Copper Corporation (KCC) and the Vigilance team entered the mines on May 14. At 8:10 p.m., as they were leaving the mines, the accident was reported. When the chain broke, senior Khetri Copper Corporation (KCC) officials and the Kolkata vigilance team were inside the elevator.

Urgent Action Ordered for Rescue Operation

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said, “Information was received on this accident due to the breaking of lift chain in Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. The concerned officials were instructed to immediately reach the spot and conduct relief and rescue operations expeditiously and provide all possible help and health facilities to the affected people. I pray to God for the safe coming out of the people trapped in the mine,” he said.

No Loss of Life Reported in Kolihan Mine Accident

Earlier, Deputy CM Diya Kumari said, “There was no loss of life in the accident that took place in the Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. So far three people have been evacuated. I wish for the people trapped in the mine to come out safely and the rescue operation to be completed soon,” she said. After three people were saved in the first round, she tweeted. But five more people were saved in the subsequent round. The remaining six individuals will shortly be evacuated, according to officials.
