Ashok Gehlot: Power tussle in Congress continues as Rajasthan CM likens Sachin Pilot to ‘Corona Virus’

Ashok Gehlot: In a video that has appeared online during the power struggle in Rajasthan between Ashok Gehlot and his arch-enemy Sachin Pilot, the chief minister is seen allegedly declaring that a “huge corona” joined the party following the outbreak.

What did Ashok Gehlot say?

It is being believed that Gehlot compared Pilot to a coronavirus. The pre-budget meeting Gehlot had with the union leaders on Wednesday is seen in the video. Without mentioning anybody, Gehlot responded to one of the attendees during the discussion by saying, “I have started meeting…earlier corona came…a big corona also entered our party.”

He said that the administration had implemented remarkable programmes with the help of the workforce despite byelections or Rajya Sabha elections. Pilot often criticises his administration, therefore Gehlot’s remark is perceived as a response. Pilot has been criticising the state administration in his daily public meetings since Monday in several districts over the concerns of document leaks, excluding party workers, and political appointments to retired bureaucrats.

INC needs to reunite Gehlot and Pilot

Since the Congress established the government in December of 2018, Gehlot and Pilot have been engaged in a power struggle. Fixing it before the assembly election scheduled for 2023 is a significant task for the party.

A majority of INC and its workers are currently insitilled in the massive Bharat Jodo Yatra along with former party president Rahul Gandhi. However, it is a major task for INC to unite both Gehlot and Pilot to have a favourable outcome. Otherwise, they would lose yet another statep, which is not a good sign keeping the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on mind.
