Jaipur Schoolgirl Death: Outrage grips Jaipur once again after the family of nine-year-old Amaira Meena releases CCTV footage of the day she died at Neerja Modi School. On November 1, Amaira, a fourth-grade student, fell from the fourth floor of the school, a distance of almost 48 feet, and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

What Can Be Seen In The Footage
The video recreates the moments before Amaira’s death in her classroom with a voiceover recorded by the family. It shows her going to class teacher Puneeta Sharma repeatedly looking distressed, folding her hands and covering her mouth trying to speak. The family says other students kept interrupting these attempts, and the teacher responded with severity instead of comfort. A few moments later, Amaira leaves the classroom alone, and no staff member is seen following her.
Claims of Bullying and Missing Investigations
Amaira’s parents, Vijay and Shivani Meena, say she was bullied very badly for more than 18 months, including being subjected to sexually inappropriate language by classmates, with the class teacher reportedly dismissing complaints by saying she “needed to adjust”.
The police in Jaipur have filed a chargesheet, but the family and a parents’ association have rejected it as incomplete, claiming that the names of principal Indu Dubey and founder Saurabh Modi were deliberately left out. Shivani has also alleged that the case has seen three investigating officers and no proper legal provisions have been used.
Broader impacts
Jaipur Schoolgirl Death: The case has led to parents’ groups in Rajasthan demanding enforceable anti-bullying protocols, safety audits of school buildings and mandatory child psychologists in schools. An inspection by the CBSE had also pointed out underqualified staff and insufficient psychological support at the institution.
