The Bhajanlal Sharma-led Rajasthan government has announced an extension for the physical verification of 91 lakh social security pension beneficiaries. Responding to a question by MLA Radheshyam Bairwa in the state assembly, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot assured that the government is committed to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of their pension. The deadline for verification has now been extended to March 31, 2025.
Under various state-run pension schemes, including Old Age Pension, Single Women Pension, Specially Abled Pension, and Farmer Senior Citizen Pension, around 91 lakh people receive pension benefits. However, recent reports indicate that while 73 lakh beneficiaries have completed verification, 14 lakh beneficiaries are yet to be verified. Initially, the government had reported 18 lakh pending verifications, but after further review, this figure was corrected to 14 lakh.
As per government norms, all pension beneficiaries must undergo physical verification every November. However, to ensure maximum participation, the deadline has been extended until March 31. Minister Avinash Gehlot stated that the government aims to complete verification for over 95% of beneficiaries on time to avoid pension disruptions.
Reports suggest that in 13 districts, over 50,000 beneficiaries are yet to complete verification. The major districts with the highest number of pending verifications are:
Jaipur – 6 lakh
Jodhpur – 86,000
Jalore – 61,000
Udaipur – 70,000
Bhilwara – 90,000
Additionally, 3,216 beneficiaries aged over 90 years—who are among the most vulnerable—have yet to complete verification, leaving them at risk of losing their pensions.
The Rajasthan government is now urging all beneficiaries to complete their verification process before March 31 to ensure uninterrupted pension benefits.
