Delhi News: The Delhi Government has announced that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) would deploy 50 air-conditioned, environment-friendly buses on 17 interstate routes, including Ayodhya, Vaishno Devi and Khatu Shyam.
Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced that the initiative is an integral part of a broader plan for the expansion of interstate connectivity. Under the initiative, DTC would be deploying 12-meter buses on 17 interstate routes. Officials commented that the interstate buses would operate based on benchmark rates that have been recommended by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU).

The move is expected to draw a large number of devotees to the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Till now, accessibility to these pilgrimage sites has remained a challenge for some due to low train seat availability. The DTC announcement would mean more than a million devotees would be visiting Ayodhya, Vaishno Devi and Khatu Shyam including seniors, first-timers and families.
The move would benefit local traders, eateries, hotels and restaurants among others as devotees don’t just pray but also spend. Bus announcements to Ayodhya, Vaishno Devi and Khatu Shyam would put more money into local economies, benefiting individuals from all ages and economic classes. Local handicraft sellers, mithai vendors, sellers of brass idols and more would benefit from this announcement.
Already Operational Routes Of DTC
Delhi Transport Corporation has already initiated electric bus operations on important routes including Delhi-Sonipat, Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-Dharuhera and Delhi-Baraut, improving regional connectivity between Delhi and neighbouring regions.
Going forward, DTC is also planning the expansion of other routes such as Delhi-Rewari, Nanaksar Delhi-Ghaziabad Bus Terminal, Delhi-Jewar, Delhi-Rohtak and Delhi-Karnal to improve accessibility for regional travellers and daily commuters.
Proposed Delhi-Bihar Interstate Buses
The Delhi Transport Minister also announced that the government is exploring the idea of interstate bus connectivity with Bihar as the state of Delhi has a large population of Purvanchali people. The Minister remarked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would soon be signed to strengthen connectivity and operationalize these services.
