Jaipur News: Income Tax Department Raids Ganpati Plaza Lockers Amid Allegations of Storing Black Money

Jaipur news

Jaipur News: A team from the Income Tax Department conducted a raid at Ganpati Plaza in Jaipur on Friday in response to allegations of hoarding crores of black money in private lockers. During the operation, the team discovered and seized Rs 7.5 lakhs of unaccounted cash from one of the lockers. In another locker, a sack filled with currency notes was found, and counting is currently in progress. The investigation is ongoing, with plans to open more lockers.

These allegations came after BJP leader Kirori Lal Meena claimed that black money, earned through a paper leak, was concealed in these lockers at Ganpati Plaza. In the previous month, the income tax team had already recovered around Rs 30 lakh from three lockers on October 17 and an additional Rs 2.46 crore on October 21.

Approximately 1,100 lockers in the plaza:

To date, the authorities have confiscated over Rs 7 crore in cash and more than 12 kg of gold from the lockers in Ganpati Plaza. Notably, there are approximately 1,100 lockers in the plaza.

The paper leak in question pertained to the recruitment of Grade II teachers and occurred in December of the previous year. Following the leak, the examination was canceled, and a total of 55 individuals, including 37 candidates, were arrested in connection with the paper leak. Furthermore, Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate.

Babulal Katara leaked exam papers:

Subsequent investigations revealed that Babulal Katara, who was responsible for setting up the senior teacher recruitment exam paper, had leaked it for a sum of Rs 60 lakh. The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police arrested Babulal Katara, his nephew Vijay Katara, and Gopal Singh, a driver employed by the commission, in April.
