Preparation For Electoral Battle have been Completed In Rajasthan

The preparations for the electoral battle in Rajasthan have been completed. In 2023, this state of the Hindi heartland has to be the true semi-final of the battle for the Congress and the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Everyone’s eyes are also fixed on this state. Perhaps the first question for everyone will be whether the Congress will retain its power in this state by reversing the electoral history or BJP will take over the seat of Jaipur as per tradition. But inside the state, a bigger question is in the mind of the people that whether the Congress party will contest the election with its Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot together? Will Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot fight together for the victory of the party or will they fight against each other? The other party in Rajasthan is also facing the same condition, but we will discuss it later.

Congress CM Ashok Gehlot is one of the big hopes of the party. After the humiliating defeat in Gujarat, the victory in Himachal saved the party from desertion. Out of the 9 states where there are elections in 2023, only two are Congress-ruled. Apart from Rajasthan, there is a Congress government in Chhattisgarh as well. Congress wants to save its government in both these states with full force. Party strategists know that losing government from these states will undermine the Congress’s hopes even within the opposition alliance in the 2024 general elections. In such a situation, any party will concentrate all its energy on victory, but Congress is not seen doing so in Rajasthan.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is known for his restraint of language

At this time, Ashok Gehlot is not considering BJP but his own Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot as the biggest obstacle in his efforts to reverse the state’s electoral history with his populist schemes. For the high command, the infighting inside the party has turned into a bigger worry than the challenges from outside. Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot’s indirect attacks on each other made more headlines among media persons than in the crowd inside Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is known for his restraint of language, but now his political fight with Sachin Pilot has increased so much that his restraint of language is also breaking. In a meeting during the visit of party’s supreme leader Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot clearly said that a traitor cannot be the chief minister.

The message in the party was clear that for whom such rhetoric is being made. On the other hand, Sachin Pilot also does not want to make any strategic mistake this time in the cross-border battle. That is, before the elections in the Congress, a decision has to be taken within the party itself and this decision is not a decision of 2023, but a pending decision of 2018, the mistake of taking which seems to be costing the party heavily. The 2023 election is surrounded by the shadow of 2018 for Congress workers.

BJP won a landslide victory in the elections

In 2013, the BJP won a landslide victory in the elections and after that Vasundhara Raje took over as the Chief Minister of the state. In this election fought in the face of former Chief Minister of the state, Ashok Gehlot, the bad condition of the party raised questions about Gehlot in the politics of the state. Gehlot also sought his role outside Rajasthan. Rahul Gandhi gave the responsibility of Rajasthan to Sachin Pilot, a member of Team Rahul, and gave power to Ashok Gehlot in Delhi. Both of them breathed life into their roles.

Gehlot managed the party efficiently in several state elections and showed his ability to solve many problems of the party. After the death of Ahmed Patel, who was the main strategist in the party for decades, Ashok Gehlot was seen filling the vacant place. Sachin Pilot also brought the party back into the fray by sifting through the ashes of Rajasthan for five years and the high command did not name any face for the post of chief minister of the state to win the 2018 elections.

As a result, both the camps asked for votes in the name of making their respective candidates the Chief Minister. The party ousted the BJP from power, but the rift in the house took root inside. After several days of struggle, a formula for reconciliation came out with the intervention of Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot got back the post of Chief Minister. The party also rewarded Sachin Pilot for his hard work by giving him the role of Deputy Chief Minister, but this did not stop the war.
